Swedish King to Visit Ukraine

The King of Sweden will visit Ukraine at the end of September 2008 for the first time since Ukraine has been an independent nation. Swedish monarch Carl XVI Gustaf, accompanied by his wife, the Queen Sylvia, will make an official state visit between September 30 and October 3. The Swedish royalty has not visited Ukraine since their 1978 visit to the Soviet Union.
According to information released by the office of the president of Ukraine, the Swedish royal couple will attend a number of official and unofficial events and meetings; however, details have not been released. During their respective histories, Ukraine and Sweden have had enjoyed a long and interesting relationship and have participated jointly in a number of events.
