The official registration for Ukrainian students who want to take part in the Independent State Testing will start on November 1, 2008, and will continue until February 20, 2009. According to the preliminary assessment, 530,000 students will take part in the testing.
The testing will comprise 11 subjects (Ukrainian language and literature, history of Ukraine, world history, literature of foreign countries, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, basics of economy, basics of law, and geography). The Independent State Testing will give students an opportunity to enter the higher educational establishments without having to take institutional entrance exams.
Students will receive certificates with their results in the beginning of June, and these certificates can be submitted to several universities simultaneously.
Last year 116,387 school students took part in the Independent State Testing, and 33 percent of these went on to enter various universities and technical colleges.
