The IMAX Corporation of Toronto, Canada, reported in late October that the Ukrainian cinema chain Kinokompaniya Triumf has ordered another of its large-format movie screens. The new screen will be installed in Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, in 2011.
This is the third such screen that Kinokompaniya Triumf has ordered. The company already has two IMAX large screens installed in Kyiv and has an option for yet another Kyiv IMAX center. The company has also agreed to install an upgraded digital projection system in Odesa in 2010.
The IMAX systems are large-screen, movie-theater systems that provide a unique viewing experience that is superior to the usual systems used in movie theaters. The latest purchase increases the number of IMAX theaters in countries of the former Soviet Union to 13.
